School Personnel Training and Technical Assistance

Building Safe and Supportive Environments

Helping schools implement best practices for preventing and responding to dating violence

Recent data reveals a troubling reality: nearly 12% of Chicago high school students report experiencing dating violence, and 1 in 10 have experienced sexual violence within the past year.  Yet, many school administrators, teachers, and staff tell us they lack the knowledge, tools, and resources to effectively address these issues.

The need for a comprehensive, schoolwide approach to dating violence prevention has never been more urgent.

Take Back the Halls equips schools with the training and technical support needed to create safe, responsive learning environments. Our approach helps schools develop and implement best practices for preventing and responding to dating violence, including:

Conducting a current response assessment

Understanding Title IX requirements

Developing evidence-based policies and procedures

Identifying and supporting survivors

Responding effectively to those who cause harm, and the broader school community

Fostering a positive school climate and culture

Providing staff training recommendations to build long-term capacity

Together, we can help schools move beyond crisis response toward prevention, healing, and resilience.
